President's Message
January 2012

Greetings To All,

Where's the snow?  Kenny is having severe withdrawals wanting to get in the Groomer.

Again, thanks to Kenny and Warren for all your work on the trails.  We added $2,258.00 to our treasury.  This is money from trail work related to the big windstorm last July.  This money came from the Wisconsin Snowmobile Council.

The aWSC receives no money from taxpayers.  We are self-sufficient.  Monies come from memberships, registration and the Trail Pass money.  The Trail Pass money now goes directly in to the snowmobile coffers as the Governor signed the bill last summer.

Thank you all for the food and monetary donations to the Food Shelf.  I was able to deliver 154 pounds of food and over $100.  What a great giving and caring group.  The $77 raised from our Silent Auction was donated to Interfaith Caregivers.  Sharon Greene, our Signer, also donated her check to Interfaith Caregivers.

Debbie, and I, Bruce, Debby, Austin and Alex Reed attended the January Director's Meeting in Tomahawk January 6 - 8.  None of us rode but Lincoln County did have enough snow to ride.  Highlights of the Sunday Directors Meeting:

  • All Current AWSC officers are running for re-election
  • Discussed Merits of the CAP/STEP LRB-3295 Bill
  • State Membership is at 26,777, up 362 from previous year
  • The DNR wants to stop classroomo and hands on snowmobile safety classes for 12-16 year olds.  They would take only on-line testing.  The AWSC does not agree with the DNR.  No official decision as of yet.  There is also talking of typing 2nd offense OWI to driver's license.  This bill is AB439.
  • The AWSC is planning a day in Madison February 15, 2012.  There will be a FREE bus.  Call  me for information.

On page 8 of the WSN our AWSC Vice President explains the CAP/STEP LRB-2395 Bill.  Page 9 the WSN "Office Notes" explains our Convention, March 30, 31, April 1, 2012.

Enclosed is a description of Wisconsin Snowmobile Program.

Please remember our MEAT RAFFLE 5:30 PM every Friday at the Pour House, downtown Siren.  This is our ONLY fund raiser.  We need volunteers and more club participation.

Austin is heading up a Youth Ride, February 4th.  They will meet at Whiskey Joe's at 9:30 AM for a free breakfast and head out for an enjoyable ride.  Contact Austin 651-210-1059 or areed010@gmail.com with any questions.  Remember you can deposit all your aluminum cans at the Youth Can trailer at Whiskey Joe's.

Our next meeting will be 3:00 PM at Robert's Roadhouse, January 21st.  Please remember items for the Food Shelf.  Bring your letter to the meeting if you received a green ($15) or blue (LCR clothing item from current inventory) dot.

Think Snow!

Sincerely,

Jon Schoepke
